So far the biggest surprise for me is the Guilford County District 2 school board race, where Ed Price has a commanding lead over incumbent Garth Hebert with 20 of 22 precincts reporting.
Hebert seemed to have the respect of his constituents and I’ve posted here about him several times because he seemed to have a realistic grasp of budget issues. But he didn’t project well during school board meetings and seemed to have a difficult time getting his ideas across.
Price is a well-known property developer in High Point who’s never held elected office. I saw him take on the High Point City Council over a zoning issue and he was expressing himself in no uncertain terms. With that in mind, it would be interesting to see him deal with the administration and the rest of the board.
In the at-large race Guarino had his eye on, incumbent Nancy Routh has a commanding lead over the good doctor’s preference Lisa Clapp.
