Haywood County Schools administrators are grappling with how to budget for students that may leave for new charter schools. The school system will lose $7000 for each child who opts out of public schools. I don’t have all day to sort out what year we’re talking about, or why sources tell me per pupil spending in Haywood County, TN was exactly the same as it was in Haywood County, NC. Suffice it to say, per pupil spending in Haywood was recently $8,904.44. Therefore, a more meaningful advocacy piece would discuss what’s going on with that $1904.44. I could swallow something like building new schools a little larger to take advantage of economies of scale.
And could the DPI please start modeling best math practices by considering significant digits?
