Meet Arshaq Allah—-also known as Lenox Nathanael Grant —- and Cedric Cunningham, both under arrest for the murders of 7-year-old Malique Steens and his father Marquise.

After murdering the Steens, Allah would later kidnap, assault, rape and strangle a young woman. Police were able to tie him to both crimes during their investigation, and he faces those charges in addition to first-degree murder and robbery.

Check out Greensboro Police Chief Ken Miller’s press conference. Miller handled himself well, especially when a reporter asked him to express hid “feelings” when investigating the murder of 7-year-old. Miller replied it wasn’t the first time he’d seen a child murdered in his career, calmly adding “I just don’t know what brings a person to that.”

Update: The N&R print edition reports both Allah and Cunningham are career criminals. Allah “was previously charged with murder in 1999, but the charge was reduced to assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill….Prison records show he served 16 months in prison and nine months of probation for that crime.”
