A group called “SustainLane
has ranked the largest 50 U.S. cities based on recent city
commute practices, metro area public transportation, sprawl, traffic
congestion, local food and wireless network access.” This ranking
helped them determine the 10 cities best able to withstand gasoline
prices of $8 a gallon. The ranking apparently starts from the idea that
public transportation does not rely on fuel in the same way that cars
do, among many other problems.
