In another effort to get federal money, the senate is budgeting $500,000 to establish a Sustainable Communities Task Force. The task force will give grants to “regional sustainable development partnerships.”

So while the state continues to underfund public charter schools and lie about it, the Senate is willing to spend new money on a fiscally unsustainable idea to get money the federal government doesn’t have.

This is why Ross Douthat finds the crisis of government leading to bigger, more centralized government.
