I’ll admit upfront that this has nothing at all to do with policy.  But it’s Friday afternoon, and more importantly, it’s the first day of the college baseball season.  It’s freezing – entirely too cold to be playing baseball – but I’m excited nonetheless.  College baseball today, pitchers and catchers report for spring training next week, 52 days until Opening Day (which I maintain should be a national holiday).  Spring, and baseball season, is coming!

So congratulations to Michael Matuella at Duke who’s getting a lot of attention as a top pitching prospect.  I hope I’m able to get out to Durham and see him pitch sometime in the next few weeks.  I’ll no doubt also catch games in Raleigh and Chapel Hill.  And I’m already planning my summer trips to Atlanta, Washington, and maybe another big league town or two.  So excited that baseball is back!
