Advocates continue to push for taxpayer-financed passenger trains in the Triangle, but John Locke Foundation Research Director and Local Government Analyst Michael Sanera pushed back this week with an op-ed in the News & Observer. Sanera’s article prompted a response, in which a letter writer admitted that Sanera “raises legitimate criticisms” of passenger rail. Speaking of letters to the editor, the Wilson Daily Times recently published Sanera’s letter critiquing an article on Wilson’s publicly owned fiber-optic cable system. Sanera based his letter on one of his most recent Regional Briefs. Another recent Sanera report on Chatham County’s proposed land-use restrictions prompted a public speaking engagement this week. Sanera headed to Siler City to discuss the report with an Americans for Prosperity North Carolina audience.
