Today’s lead CJ Online news report by Barry Smith discussed attempts by the state teacher’s union and the state PTA to wash their hands of taking a major role in the planned “walk-in” Monday at several school districts.

While the shadowy “Organize2020.com” website refuses to identify its sponsors, it also suggested the protests might be limited to Buncombe, Durham, Guilford, Wake counties.

Or not. It looks as if the protest will be more widespread than the four school districts mentioned. Iredell-Statesville Schools plan a host of Monday walk-in activities, including a “virtual” walk-in (whatever that is). Moreover, the district has provided a set of “talking points” it is urging parents and business leaders to use as a script when they “Contact [their] elected officials and encourage them to truly support K-12 public education…”

The page also has a link to the Iredell county commission’s website.

In addition, the district provides other scripted messages for concerned parents to offer elected officials (keep clicking until the image reaches full-size):

Remember, folks — it’s all about the children! AND THERE’S NOTHING POLITICAL ABOUT IT!
