In today’s WSJ, William McGurn takes a look at the “tax cut” plan Barack Obama has been pushing and finds that it’s hokum. You can read McGurn’s column here.

Among other points, McGurn observes that the plan would further undermine the already parlous financial condition of Social Security. Queried on that, Obama evades the issue by saying that fixing SS will have to wait for a couple of years. Sorry, but the time to deal with that monstrosity was many years ago, but politicians typically kept putting it off. Too bad that nothing in this feeble campaign has shown younger people just how bad a deal SS is for them.

Joe the plumber opened up a fruitful discussion. It would be better still if Joan the student would do something similar regarding Social Security.
