Puzzled how one of the country’s biggest real estate concerns still has not paid its property tax bills. The four parcels owned by 555 Blake LLC owe the city and county over $380K.

Wonder how the sponsors of this weekend’s Bartender’s Ball at the Blake feel about throwing their business towards a tax dodge operation. Maybe someone should crash the party and ask.

Elsewhere, reassurance that it is still business as usual in Charlotte. Last week we reported that the massive National Gypsum Corp. operation owed $436,000 in tax. Two days later we emailed Charlotte Chamber president Bob Morgan to ask him to tell former Chamber chair Tom Nelson about the delinquent status. By the next day the bill was paid in full including $11,600 in penalties, county records show.
