Some very interesting names in the 213 pages of property tax bills Mecklenburg County now lists as delinquent. Lotsa developers and shopping centers, some of which received local government subsidies. Big corporations as well, but I imagine some of those will get cleared up in the next few days.
We’ll give them a grace period and see where we stand next week.
Clarification: I should note that the 213 pages I was referring to is the number of tax bills greater than $10,000 past due. There are many thousands more past due well under that number for properties valued at less than roughly $850K. We’ll get to them too.
