State government is trying to decide if a South Carolina Native American tribe should be allowed to compete with the casino run by the Eastern Tribe of Cherokee. Were it not for today’s view that a primary role of government is to gain revenue, it would be the right of individuals to blow their money as they pleased. As it is, the tribe wants to use the casino to funnel money out of the state, and so Senator Tom Apodaca is talking about revoking Governor Pat McCrory’s power to unilaterally enter into gambling agreements.
