The National Taxpayers Union has compiled a list of over 100 tax-related measures before voters on November 4. This does not include the nine votes in North Carolina for higher sales or land transfer taxes, but does include the Durham food tax, and Charlotte and Mecklenburg bond initiatives.
Among statewide initiatives across the country, voters in Colorado could gut the country’s first taxpayer bill of rights. In Wisconsin, voters in some cities will get to express their opinion on guaranteed health insurance. And voters in Wyoming will have a chance to make it harder to put future initiatives on the ballot. This is part of a nationwide effort by frustrated legislators to limit the voice of those meddling voters.
