Tax Freedom Day is coming up ? the first day of the year in which Americans have worked enough to fund the federal, state and local annual tax burden. The Tax Foundation calculates the day every year. This year, National Tax Freedom Day falls on April 23.

I found the recent history interesting, particularly with all the talk of how bad the economy is and how we?d be better off with a Clinton in the White House.

During Bill Clinton?s presidency, beginning in 1993, it took Americans longer, from April 21 to May 30 to pay their tax bill and the taxes as percent of income increased from 30.2% to 33.6%.

During the George Bush years, 2001 thru 2008, the day moved back to April 23 and the taxes as percent of income moved from 32.6% when he took over from Clinton down to 30.8%.
