Here’s what I’m getting from news accounts of Baptist Hospital’s dispute with the state auditor regarding overpayments from the state health plan: Baptist doesn’t plan on paying up, and the state doesn’t plan on pursuing the money.
No problem —except for taxpayers. State auditor Beth Wood said “she believes Baptist has an ethical obligation to pay some, if not all, of the overpayment it received from 2003 to 2008.” Good luck with that.
