Since the “By The Numbers” report was
released in January, we’ve seen many examples of the data being used
by officials and reporters. Last month, The Franklin Times and The Highlander
published a story about the Macon County chapter of Citizens for a
Sound Economy and its push to see the county’s property tax rate
lowered since the county reportedly has a $15.7 million fund balance. The story referenced JLF and noted that Macon County
ranks 16th out of 100 in terms of combined property tax burden as a
percentage of income.
