I am happy that public school teachers are happy. I really am. Job satisfaction is important.

The North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) and their ilk want teachers to be unhappy and, for that matter, want high teacher turnover. When the NCAE calls for teacher pay increases, they typically argue that the increases will retain teachers and improve working conditions. If turnover is relatively low and working conditions are good, the argument does not pass the smell test.
