Henderson County shared the following in its recent newsletter:

In 1991 the National Association of Counties (NACo) developed County Government Week in an attempt to encourage counties across the country to actively promote county government programs and services to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of the nation’s counties to meet the needs of the community. 2010 is the first year that NACo has extended County Government Week to County Government Month.

I will not be celebrating. As mentioned elsewhere, there was a lot of snow in Washington, DC this year, but it hasn’t frozen over yet. (I think I got through that without saying any negative words.)
