Donna mentioned below that Blue Cross Blue Shield is among the insurance companies that U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-CA, is trying to strong-arm. Waxman has been a congressional bully for most of his career, protected by a far-left constituency that puts up with his totalitarian approach to governing.
I’ve wondered over the years what would happen if people summoned to Waxman’s various star chambers just told the obnoxious member to get stuffed, to take his letters and gavel and take a flying leap off a short pier. In a way, that’s what the Tea Party protesters and people angry over huge deficits, TARP, bailouts and congressional perks are already doing. Unfortunately, congressional goons like Waxman, in their gerrymandered districts, are often immune from the outrage of normal people. But, hey, maybe enough of his posse can be defeated to make him ineffectual in the next Congress. We can only hope.
