Appearing in today’s N&R, Thomas Sowell* expresses the very sentiment that gnaws at me about government-run healthcare:

What about insurance companies denying reimbursements for treatments? Does anyone think a government bureaucracy will not do that?

It seems to me a lot of people believe that everything will be fine once government gets involved in healthcare. It won’t. We’ll still hear the same stories we’re hearing about the insurance companies —- people being denied treatment, people having to wait for treatment and, yes, people dying because they couldn’t get treatment.

*I couldn’t find this column anywhere online — the N&R didn’t post it, and it’s not in Sowell’s archives.
