The town of Knightdale, which nearly shares a boundary with the city of Raleigh, has outlawed graffiti. What’s more, teenagers are no longer allowed to purchase “spray paint, markers or anything that can be used for graffiti” in Knightdale, according to WRAL-TV.

This should certainly make a dent in property crimes of passion, though premeditated vandalism (“Graffiti One”) will continue until surrounding communities enact similar bans, and it does nothing to address the problem of twenty-year-old vandals. Or twelve-year-olds.

For that matter, all the graffiti I’ve seen around my property involved crayons or pocket knives — are those covered too?
