As he campaigns for governor, Democratic state Rep. Bill Faison is telling prospective voters:

“The terrible thing we’ve all seen this time around is the Republicans taking us to 49th nationally in education spending,” Faison told about 400 people at the Raleigh Convention Center. “That’s not acceptable, and as governor we will do it another way.”

Whether Faison accepts facts or not, the “49th in the nation” claim is false, as the nation’s largest teachers’ union has explained and as Terry Stoops discusses below in a briefing for North Carolina election candidates.
