Extremely bothersome is the ditiching of the double round-robin schedule. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it used to be that teams would run through the entire conference once, then run through it again with the home courts switched up. And it’s just a crime that Tobacco Road schools aren’t playing home-and-home every season.
Meck Deck’s right to point out the fact that CBS affiliates aren’t carrying ACC games could indicate a weakening of the brand. Last night’s UNC-Florida State game would have been front-and-center on WFMY a few years ago, but instead its was relegated to WMYV, right after reruns of “Two and a Half Men.” As for ESPN’s coverage of the Duke-Wake game, I kept the sound down so as not to hear Dook V.
But last night’s hard-hitting games— both decided on last-second shots following rallies from double-digit deficits —- put my fears to rest. ACC hoops are still ACC hoops—- the best in the country.
