The Journal also editorializes on the Hanesbrand closing:

One bright spot in this whole nightmare is that thousands of laid-off workers are turning their lives around. They’re going to community colleges and training for new, higher-tech jobs. Leaders are working hard to create those jobs, holding their noses as they reluctantly pay out the incentives that bringing in companies with those jobs often costs.

Right. These are the same leaders who’ve shelled out $40 million for a downtown stadium complex. Somebody please tell me who was holding their nose when they voted for that one, or for any of the incentives that have been passed around here lately. Geez, the Journal acts as if local leaders are subjecting themselves to some distasteful task that’s truly beneath them. Funny, it seems to me like they can’t give it away fast enough.
