Late last week I was cornered by a proud progressive who spent about five minutes crowing about last week’s win by Democrat Mark Critz in Pennsylvania’s special election to replace the late John Murtha. It was a victory for the people, a triumph of Main Street over Wall Street, a sign the country finally has a president and a Congress that truly care for us, she insisted. But when I pointed out that the victorious Mr. Critz ran against the policies trumpeted by the White House and congressional Democrats, she suddenly had an urgent errand to run. I thought of it when I read this. While my experience is just one anecdote, it did make me wonder how long it will take liberals to realize that most Americans are not happy with the direction of the country.
