If state lawmakers stick with their current pace, this year’s short session could be pretty short.
Senators have met their pledge to finish a budget plan before Memorial Day. A half dozen Republicans joined all the Democrats to support the plan.
The House hopes to have its plan complete by mid-June. That would give House and Senate negotiators a couple of weeks to work out a conference report before the new budget year starts July 1.
The ball is now in the House’s court.
