What if you could cut the cost of providing public education in North Carolina, improve student performance, and give more parents the choice of where to send their kids to school?
Advocates say state education tax credits could contribute to all three goals. They made their case during an afternoon news conference at the Legislative Building. The news briefing built on a new report from the North Carolina Education Alliance.
- In this video clip, Alliance director Lindalyn Kakadelis explains that education tax credits would expand school choice beyond the ranks of wealthy and middle-class families who can afford to choose between public and private school options.
- Robert Littlejohn of Trinity Academy of Raleigh says education tax credits would help many families who enroll children in his school.
- Pastor Brenda Timberlake of Christian Faith Center Academy in Creedmoor says tax credits would help her school offer its unique services to more students.
- Sen. Eddie Goodall, R-Union, asked whether lawmakers would address serious questions about education in North Carolina.
