So a Charlotte School of Law professor told members of the ACLU yesterday that the CMPD Citizens Review Board needs greater investigative powers to be effective. That’s a fairly obvious conclusion, as in 16 years the board has yet to find any police wrongdoing. The real question is whether there’s anyone in Charlotte city government who thinks giving the board more power is a good idea. Given the lack of traction the idea has generated to date, the answer to that appears to be “no.”
