I posted this morning about John Conyers’ about face on his threat to investigate the Obama-connected thug community organizing group ACORN, say that “powers that be” were against him carrying out his threat.

I wondered whether Rahm Emanuel or Barack Obama had gotten to Conyers. Now it seems that there might very well have been some quid for his quo. It looks like Conyers’ wife has gotten a nothing-burger sentence from the feds by pleading guilty to bribery. Did Conyers use the threat of his ACORN investigation, which could prove very embarrassing for President Obama, to get his wife a light sentence?

Allapundit thinks maybe so:

You’ll be glad to know that, as of this morning, on the very day his wife’s copped a plea to federal charges, he’s no longer threatening to make trouble. Evidently the “powers that be” oppose it. Ace reads between the lines and figures this means Mrs. C’s sentence will be no longer than three months. I’d guess 60 days. Exit question: Think Barry appreciates Conyers’s ability to play hardball “the Chicago way”?
