Did you see that the UNC system is asking for $266 million in increased funding from the state over the next five years?  And that doesn’t include the cost of enrollment growth, which could be about $25 million per year.

It strikes me as a lot of money given the current economy and unemployment rates.  I know education is important, and I’m not questioning the value of the UNC system.  But with lots of college graduates unable to find graduate level employment, and with a struggling economy and budgets in need of trimming, should we be spending so much additional money on the UNC system?
