Today’s the day.

I think there is too much worry about “too much” jail time for Michael Decker sending the “wrong message” to the ongoing criminal conspiracy that passes for state government. These guys — and gals — in Raleigh understand one thing: power. On top of that, they sincerely think themselves to be slick and sophisticated. They truly think they will never be caught.

What they will do if Decker gets hit with, say, a 7-year sentence is laugh. And laugh. They will tell themselves that Decker was a fool for turning state’s evidence and that they would surely never do such a thing because they are so much smarter. And slicker. And more powerful. No one can touch them.

Until the FBI comes knocking.
