Outrage is beginning to surface over two things: Obama’s silence on the situation in Iran and CNN’s non-coverage of this important story.
Bill Kristol asks “Where’s the soft power?“:
Soft power ain’t hard power, but it can make a difference. Shouldn’t the Obama administration at least try to exercise some? Or don’t they believe in soft power? Are they just soft?
In a sign of the times, more news on Iran was coming from Twitter accounts than from CNN:
Even as Twitter became the best source for rapid fire news developments from the front lines of the riots in Tehran, a growing number of users of the microblogging service were incredulous at the near total lack of coverage of the story on CNN, a network that cut its teeth with on-the-spot reporting from the Middle East.
There are two possibilities here. First, is Obama hesitant to come out in support of people taking to the streets in defense of their freedoms because he sees that coming in his own country?. Second, has CNN made the same kind of deal with Iran that it did with Iraq?
