Both the city and county are getting pushed to adopt domestic partner policies for staff. County Commissioner Bill James is pushing back, Bill James style.

The fact is nothing is really standing in the way of adoption of domestic partners benefits aside from enough votes on the city council and county commission. The county is clearly trying to address this matter on the down-low, hence James’ rhetorical hand-grenade. The city is hiding behind city attorney Mac McCarley’s tortured reading of state law.

Something tells me that is not going to last.
