Don’t think the Duke lacrosse case hasn’t taught a lot of people lessons. I mentioned yesterday that we shouldn’t jump to conclusions regarding the Duke prof charged with indecent exposure in Atlanta. Likewise, we shouldn’t jump to conclusions regarding the three Guilford College football players charged with ethnic intimidation. It is clear that Guilford College President Kent Chabotar had Duke President Richard Brodhead and Duke University in mind when he said this:

“In our system of justice, public safety incident and police reports alone are not the same as guilt or innocence. There are too many examples of colleges and universities jumping to conclusions with dire consequences for the institution, students and the community.”
