Sure looks like TV ratings potential and ticket sales were thumbs on the scale for this round of NCAA selections. Only four so-called “non-power” schools received at-large bids as very, very dubious big and familiar names likes Arizona made the field.
And I’m absolutely shocked that North Carolina and dook will share Greensboro for the first two rounds. The last time that happened, in 2005 in the New Old Coliseum, Carolina fans made life a living hell for Coach K and his boys, prompting a full-on conniption fit from K. Expect more of the same after 20,000 Tar Heel fans scream for two days.
Were I Carolina coach Roy Williams, I’d contemplate giving Ty Lawson the game off against 16 seed Radford, or at least limited work. You’ll need him for Saturday’s game, and then get another week to rest up. In any event, bring it on. This is the best time of the year for madness.
