Our good friend Zeke Pasour (with Randal Rucker) writes here on the folly of pushing ethanol as an alternative fuel. Due to federal subsidies, we’re wasting land and other resources in producing this high-cost, low-efficiency substitute. Without federal intervention, ethanol would surely flunk the test of the market.
Would any of the presidential contenders have the guts to say that this is a case of costs exceeding benefits and that the subsidies should be ended?
