Former presidential advisor David Axelrod — about whom the chief mystery is whether he actually believes what he says — was on MSNBC trying to excuse away the explosion of scandals in the Obama administration: the Benghazi coverup, the IRS being sicced on political opponents, the Justice Dept.’s wiretapping the Associated Press, the HHS Secretary shaking down health companies and groups, etc.

His approach was to trot out the hidebound old the problem isn’t Obama, it’s the office mare:

“Part of being president is there’s so much beneath you that you can’t know because the government is so vast.”

Come to think about it, if this man cannot keep up with everything in government, then maybe government really is too big!
