“The Fourteenth Amendment makes the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms fully applicable to the States.?

That’s what Justice Samuel Alito wrote in today’s 5-4 Supreme Court majority opinion in McDonald v. City of Chicago, the first case the justices have heard since they ruled in 2008 that the District of Columbia’s ban on handgun ownership violated the Second Amendment.
