It creates lot of jobs as a result of the war on drugs, as we learn in this Reason article.
As usual, however, these jobs entail work that does not create value or human satisfaction. The drug war absorbs lots of resources that would otherwise be put to some beneficial use, including the labor of those who fight this war.
