From CNN comes the crystal clear evidence of the irresponsibility of the American people. This is absolutely stunning.

When the unexpected strikes, most Americans aren’t prepared to pay for it.

A majority, or 64%, of Americans don’t have enough cash on hand to handle a $1,000 emergency expense, according to a survey by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, or NFCC, released on Wednesday.

I can understand that the multi-year recession would lead to more people tapping out their savings, but let’s get real. In a society where even the poorest among us have cell phones, satellite TV, and homes, these  numbers should be flipped on their head. And no, we don’t need more “education” about financial issues. We need the American people to take responsibility.
