Is there really no telling who paid for the “Vote No on Bonds” signs that started popping up all over Charlotte in the past few days?

The Uptown paper of record says so. All I know is what I told an Observer reporter who was diligent enough to ask: It is not the John Locke Foundation, as was evidently the rumor in some quarters.

We’ve been too busy causing the record-breaking drought.

The signs — which I’ve seen in and around Matthews in particular — warn voters that a $500 million school bond will mean a county property tax hike.
