The growing federal government influence over higher education

Hillsdale College is one of just two institutions of higher education in the United States that accepts no money from the federal government. (Grove City College is the other.)

During a luncheon speech to the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society, Hillsdale President Larry Arnn outlined problems attached to federal involvement in higher education.

• In this video clip, Arnn explains that his competition is accepting more money and more rules each year. He says the rate of federal funding has grown faster in his sector than in defense spending since September 11, 2001.
