Here’s another reason to be concerned about the predominance of government schools as a vehicle for basic American education. Insofar as under-30’s don’t read newspapers (or much else regarding events and news), and glean their history, current events, policitcs, and economics from 1) government school texts and teachers and/or 2) scrolling and flashing Internet banners or TV, the instant-information generation of under-30’s has had virtually no exposure to American history or presidential doings prior to Jimmy Carter.

Author Matt Towery suggests that the history that gets reported must make good TV or quick internet banners?not necessarily an accurate historical perspective. If under-30’s are unaware that they don’t know what they don’t know, more thoughtful depictions are fighting utter ignorance. Obviously, this is not a situatiion that anti-market, pro-government schools have much incentive to correct.
