A political system based on federalism requires a degree of humility. In the U.S. context, this means an understanding that federal bureaucrats and elected officials don’t have all the answers for every problem.

Kyle Scott, visiting assistant professor in the Duke University political science department, explored the themes of federalism and humility during a presentation today to the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society. In the video clip below, he summarizes the importance of humility in a federal system.
