The Lowrie Gang of Robeson County robbed for the last time. Many locals feared the violent gang. The poor, however, considered them to be local Robin Hoods because they shared their stolen goods.

In 1868, Governor W.W. Holden had declared Henry Berry Lowrie an outlaw. A bounty was placed on his head. Little did the governor know that he would be involved in the middle of an impeachment trial in February 1871
