A month or so ago, a posting here (as I recall, Paul dunnit) informed us of the fact that Kerry, in an interview, said that his favorite Red Sox player was “Manny Ortez.” That was a gaffe of some magnitude. There is no Manny Ortez on the Red Sox. Kerry certainly made himself no friends among Boston baseball fans by pretending to know something about a subject he clearly does not.
But that blunder won’t cost him Massachusetts. A similar blunder last week could cost him Wisconsin. An article in the new Weekly Standard highlights a Kerry trip to Green Bay, where he told the audience how glad he was to be at “Lambert Field.”
Sorry, but it’s LAMBEAU Field, as just about every Wisconsinite knows.
What next? Maybe he’ll be campaigning in Chicago and let everyone know how he enjoys watching a game at Wigley Field.
Or maybe the staffer who sends him to sports venues will be sacked.
