The assumption is that Orange County’s nonprofit organizations should have expected an increase in demand for help based on negative economic news, but they say they’ve seen only minimal impact on the demand for their services. From the News of Orange County:

Many would believe that non-profit organizations that help those in need would be seeing greater demand while at the same time facing a crippling escalation in costs.

But for some local aid organizations, the impact of escalating prices is less apparent than even those in charge of the services would have expected. For others who rely on volunteers for almost all aspects of their services, the impact has been minimal.

In other words, Orange County is doing fine. Those who need assistance are having no trouble finding it from the myriad resources available.
