No surprise, but some folks plan to protest today on Franklin Street when the U.S. Army opens a recruiting office. According to this Herald-Sun story:

Ben Carroll, a leader at UNC’s SDS, said he is concerned not just about the Chapel Hill office but about military recruiting in general.

He said he worries that recruiters could deceive students about compensation and career benefits of enlisting. He also said he is concerned that they may target poor, uneducated people in this community.
First, Mr. Carroll needs to read this profile of military recruits. He will find out he is simply wrong. Period.

And second, it seems lost on Mr. Caroll that it is the U.S. Army and other military branches that secure his right to not appreciate the very people who protect and preserve his liberties.
