My friend Jim Otteson, professor of philosophy at Yeshiva University, argues that there is a compelling moral case for capitalism here.

Capitalism is the economic system that arises when the state leaves people alone to pursue their own interests and contract with others. All other economic systems require that, to a greater or lesser degree, the state forcibly interfere with what Robert Nozick called “capitalistic agreements between consenting adults.” Therein lies the moral superiority of capitalism.
