Capitalism is the economic system that arises when the state leaves people alone to pursue their own interests and contract with others. All other economic systems require that, to a greater or lesser degree, the state forcibly interfere with what Robert Nozick called “capitalistic agreements between consenting adults.” Therein lies the moral superiority of capitalism.
