Well, you could see this coming. The City of Winston-Salem is about to get into the moving business:

Members of the Winston-Salem City Council took steps yesterday to ensure that renters who might be displaced by a possible ballpark project near downtown will be given adequate financial assistance to move elsewhere.

About 15 to 20 families in the area of Green and Watkins streets could be affected, officials said. Billy Prim, the project’s lead developer and a co-owner of the Winston-Salem Warthogs, has offered to pay $800 to $1,000 for relocation costs, but that amount probably will not be enough, officials and residents said.

Yeah, our city government has justifiably taken a lot of heat lately. But I think Allen Johnson has it right: There’s no way any of this stuff would fly here in Greensboro. Now, if the county could only reign in the school system…….
